The Kingsmen Challenge is a bold and creative initiative by The Royal Toast Games, designed to revive, preserve, and celebrate the cultural heritage of Mweso, Uganda’s iconic board game.

From Friday, 29th August to Monday, 1st September 2025, Mugabi Arafatih will attempt to set both a national and world record by playing a continuous 60+ hour Mweso marathon. Over the course of three days and three nights, he will rotate with four other players to sustain the challenge—testing endurance, skill, and strategy to new limits.
This marathon is not just about breaking records; it is about inspiring the next generation and proving that indigenous games like Mweso still hold relevance in modern times. The challenge highlights how traditional games can thrive alongside global sports, while also acting as a cultural preservation effort—blending tradition with creativity and positioning Mweso as a symbol of resilience, intelligence, and identity.
As an initiative of The Royal Toast Games, the marathon will also spark conversations around:
- The role of indigenous African games in today’s world.
- Storytelling through play as a medium of cultural expression.
- The importance of safeguarding heritage in innovative ways.
