Just days after news broke out that Tanzania’s president Jakaya Kikwete was in the process of hooking Diamond up with an international collabo with Trey Songz, it has now emerged that the country’s parliament has blacklisted three artists who are now on their watchlist over lewd public appearance and inappropriate photos.
The government through the information and sports minister had issued warnings to artist Ney Wa Mitego, actress and TV presenter Wema Sepetu and Shilole Noma a singer.
Ney Wa Mitego who became famous after releasing a song with Diamond, “Mziki Gani” has had photos of him brandishing guns and also said to dress inappropriately, which may have prompted his inclusion in the government watchlist.
Shilole Noma was warned for obvious reasons, she is known for ‘rewarding” her male fans publicly during her performances, even letting them fondle her breasts.
Wema Sepetu may have been faulted for raunchy photographs with her beau Diamond that have been doing rounds in the blogsphere.
The issue was brought to parliament by MP Catherine Magige who posed the question to the Information and Sports Assistant minister Juma Nkamia, asking about the negative potrayal of the “woman” by a section of Tanzanian artists. The assistant admitted that indeed the artist had exhibited lewd behavior in public and the government and entertainment industry had a sitting to discuss the issues.
The assistant minister in response also disclosed that the government had not only issued warnings to the blacklisted artists but also banned them from being contracted to perform at any government events. This happens in the wake of an online firestorm concerning Vera Sidika for bleaching whose raunchy photos have been doing rounds online.
