The Children’s Day is here! Children’s Day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honor of children. In 1925, International Children’s Day was first proclaimed in Geneva during the World Conference on Child Welfare. Since then, it is celebrated on June 1 in most countries. For this special day, a programme named Star Kids Gala will be on ST Kids Channel, 18:00 CAT, June 1st. The 30-minute length English program will be a compilation of dances, songs, magic shows and other fascinating content to be enjoyed by the young audience.

ST Kids is one of the most popular channels among children. During the pandemic, a special program titled Homeschooling was launched for children to keep up their learning pace with their peers when offline schools are not available, and thus to create more topics for the young ones to talk about. The other On Air programs including The Guardians of Carcosa, Jelly Jamm and Fantasy Westward Journey also contributes to the progress in imagination and creativity for children.

Recently, StarTimes launched another kids channel named TOONAMI. It is produced and distributed by Warner, and is positioned as an animated superhero channel for teens aged 6-14 with classic series including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Lego Super Heroes and Dragon Ball. Another channel coming soon on StarTimes is CBEEBIES. It was produced and broadcast by the BBC in 2002 and is aimed at children aged 6 and under for developing learning, independence, social skills and emotional control. The channel has won the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television) Channel of the Year award five times. It is currently broadcast in over 100 countries worldwide in six languages.

The StarTimes Brand & Marketing Director Isma Lule said, “It is quite a hard time for everyone, however, together with all parents, StarTimes would like to offer a joyful time for the young audience especially on their own festival. With our e-commerce platform StarTimes Go, you can now shop online by going to ugmall.startimestv.com to make an order for a StarTimes decoder or any other product of your choice or call 0317117700.”

When you work hard alone, often times the world only sees your success when you reach the epitome of your career. Many times, a lot of people work hard in their homes, offices, studios and other places and no one notices or gives a damn until they make it and their light shines so bright that no one can ignore it. This is particularly true for Ugandan artistes who burn the night candle in studios to make things work out and release some of the baddest projects. Today, however, Galaxy FM recognized and rewarded some of these and they were ecstatic as they received their awards.

Top Kampala musicians flocked Galaxy one by one as they lined up to receive their awards for the hard work that is appreciated by fans and the radio station. Musicians, big and small who won awards at the scientific and online Zzina awards 2020 flocked the Galaxy FM station located on the Kansanga Ggaba stretch to claim what’s theirs, their accolades that they won when they announced the top entertainers in the fast ever Zzina Awards 2020 online edition of the awards.

From the likes of B2C Soldiers, comedians Maulana and Maulana and Reign, John Blaq and several others, the excitement was evident. And rightly so, because, none of these artistes was allowed at the scientific awards that were held online. We have the photos of them picking their awards. Check them out.

Check out the full list of winners from the very scientific Zzina Awards 2020 here.

Gabriel K will perform a livestreamed solo concert on Saturday 20th June in a new trend of online concerts being done by a number of musicians.

In what he has termed as “We Just Want Love” Concert, it will be an hour’s performance that will be streamed on his social media handles and a host of many other sites that have been engaged to carry the same.

In a twist that lends this an edge over the other concerts, it will also air live on NBS Television. This is a first as there has never been a live concert done on this channel.

Indeed he has been a man of many firsts from running billboards in the city advertising his album, running adverts on television for his music and now putting up a live show without charging for it.

Why does he do this?

“As a singer, I do not feel like I am working, I feel like I am experiencing life. I do it because I love it. So I’m giving myself out to the world and I don’t feel that i want to charge for my brand yet”.

This is quite an interesting approach to a music career indeed.

“It’s more about the music than the recognition, singing is really a basic need. I continue to sing because there is nothing else in the world that brings me that kind of joy.

So there goes, this Saturday stands to be a test of whether he has got what it takes to move an audience into believing his act.

With Two albums under his belt, a total of 34 songs and 18 videos, it is quite a big collection from which to choose from.
