Urban TV presenter Mary Luswata opened up about her life off the set. She talked about her roots and upbringing in an interview that was conducted recently. The controversial TV star described herself as sensitive and shy but very friendly and spiritual.
“I love to be by myself, my friends call me a loner but that’s because I have lived by myself since I was 19years. I take long to trust but when I do, I trust completely. I have built a wall around myself, I am sensitive and shy sometimes; it is so bad that I can barely keep eye contact. I am also a spiritual person, I have been a church girl; since 2005. I teach Sunday school at my church (Redemption City Church) and work with the youth from time to time,” Mary Luswata stated.
Mary went on to reveal that her TV character is very different from her real life character.
“When people first meet me, they think I am pretending but it takes time for someone to see the difference between who I am and the Mary on TV,” she added.
Luswata did not grow up with her parents. She was raised by her grandmother and maternal uncle because her parents had left the country when she was in Primary five and only came back when she was at University. Sadly, her father passed away a few months later. “A few months later, my dad passed on and my mum and I are still trying to build a relationship. It’s hard trying to connect with someone who has already been raised by other people but we are working on it,” she said.
Mary has two brothers and she is the middle child. She went to Kampala Primary School, then St Lawrence Horizon campus for O level. From there she joined Aga khan for her form Five before going to Kabojja for Form Six. She went on to Makerere University where she did a Bachelors in Tourism.
