With just a week left to the kick-off of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL), KCCA FC scored two second half goals to edge army side Simba Sports Club at Nelson Mandela stadium, Namboole.
Following a barren first half, the industrious Michael Birungi put the Kasasiro Boys in the lead before former SC Villa defender, Musa Docca leveled the score.
Tom Matisko proved his worth later when he restored the yellows’ lead before the final whistle.
Assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa took the win as a sign of motivation for the team ahead of the new campaign.
“This win motivates our resolve to parade a perfect squad at the league commencement. They have helped us know the areas we need to improve and I promise you we will be much better in our next friendly game,” Ssimbwa told the club website.
Meanwhile, new army side head tactician, Morley Byekwaso (former Sports Club Victoria University tutor) hailed the performance of the third place finishers at the recently concluded CECAFA Kagame Cup.
“They worked hard for their win and were difficult to breakdown. They have given us the necessary challenge we needed before we go for the Military games,” Byekwaso remarked.
The game was the last pre-season friendly encounter for the Bombo based side, Simba ahead of the East African military games that start on Saturday at Namboole.
Simba starts the campaign against Kenya.
