After pop star Rihanna was given the MJ Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs, local star Sheebah Karungi has revealed that she is very inspired to do the same and win an award that has never come close to Uganda.
After being given the award by Drake who had just confessed his love for her, Rihanna said; “My success started as my dream. But now my success is not my own. It’s my family’s. It’s my fans. It’s my country’s. It’s the Caribbean as a whole. It’s women. It’s black women. This is the first time such an award is coming anywhere close to my country.”
This inspired Sheebah to believe in herself. Sheebah said; “Success on one hand love on the other. Am so proud of this woman. Since I was 17, I have been inspired by her work and how she continues winning effortlessly without changing her personality or trying so hard! I hope one day I bring Uganda that special award that has never ‘landed anywhere close to my country’ I loved her speech so much.”
