Many times, we make wrong career choices which in the end impacts on our lives negatively. But this is because we never had the right people to guide us through. However this is changing as learning institutions are creating awareness on the need on career guidance.
Next week starting on Monday 28th March till 1st April, Victoria University will host hundreds of senior six leavers from different schools at what has been called “Leavers Plugin”. The five day workshop will be facilitated by motivation speaker and trainer Ethan Musolini at the university premises.
Oscar Kamukama, the marketing and recruitment specialist at Victoria University, said they are targeting high school students because they want to build their career choices when they are still young so that they don’t make mistakes.
“We are a university and schools are a feeder for universities. So we target S5 and S6 students because they will be joining Universities tomorrow. We don’t want them when they are coming to study, we want them in a raw format so that we can grow with them.” Oscar explained why they are engaging the vacists.
Julia Kushemererwa, research and product development head at Success Africa, the organizers of the program, said that students will be taught how to transform from thinking that things will be handed to you to building own potential.
