Popular Ugandan DJ Selecta Jeff has declared Sheebah Karungi as the Artist of the Decade, not just among female artists, but across the entire music industry.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Selecta Jeff praised Sheebah’s consistency and dominance over the last 10 years, emphasizing her unmatched run of hit songs.
“It’s only fair to say that @Ksheebah1 is the Artiste of the Decade. Not ‘female artiste’, but ARTISTE of the DECADE,” he posted.
“We haven’t had any other artiste that has consistently dropped bangers year in, year out for 10 years straight. I think the closest to Sheebah is Fik Fameica. Thanks for keeping us aktive.”
Sheebah, who began her solo career after leaving the Obsessions girl group, rose to fame with hits like Ice Cream, Tunywe, Nkwatako, and Muwomya, becoming a household name and a symbol of female empowerment in Ugandan music.
Her fans have rallied behind Selecta Jeff’s statement, calling it a well-deserved recognition for an artist who has defied odds and continuously evolved with the industry.
While some critics have mentioned other names such as Eddy Kenzo, and Spice in the decade-long conversation, Jeff says purely on hit songs Sheebah might be superior.
