A contingent of 18 players and 4 officials from Sports Club Villa traveled yesterday morning to Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam for a club friendly.
The Jogoos are set to play Tanzanian giants, Yanga Africans in a friendly match on Saturday 27th June, 2015.
While speaking to the media, club PRO/CEO Ivan Kakembo confirmed the development.
“The team left at 5:00am on Wednesday for Tanzania, where we are to participate in a charity game against Yanga FC,” he said.
Under the charges of Ibrahim Kirya as the head coach, the Blues traveled with some of their new recruits like Umar Kasumba, Jonathan Mugabi, Abel Eturude, Patrick Mbowa, Robert Achema, Tadeo Lwanga, Patrick Mbowa and the most recent signing, Ashadu Bugembe who is a goalie.
The match between the two East African club giants has been organized by Nyumbani Kwanza Media Group in campaign to end the killings of albinos in Tanzania which have been rampant in the recent years by traditional healers within the country.
“It is aimed at creating awareness about the killings of Albinos in Tanzania and the whole world. Through this match, we believe we are playing a vital part in the bid to end these killings,” Kakembo further revealed.
