The annual Rolex Festival is back. Returning for a fourth season, this year’s edition was officially launched during a ceremony held at the Uganda Independence monument grounds on Tuesday evening.

Speaking during the launch, Enid Mirembe, the brains behind the event, revealed that they are shifting the festival to a new venue.

“For the last three years, we have hosted the festival at the Uganda Museum but we have grown and decided to move it to Lugogo Cricket Oval which is bigger,” she said.

This year’s festival will focus on educating street food vendors on how to operate their businesses smartly by meeting quality assurance, hygiene, health and environment standards.

This will be through numerous street activations held in and around Kampala leading up to the festival where local rolex makers will be taught the appropriate practices that will enable them improve their business.

Also speaking during the launch, Jimmy Andrew Kigozi, a representative from the Ministry of Tourism lauded the organizers for the initiative and pledged the ministry’s continued support.

“It is important to promote local Tourism initiatives especially those with a link to the local masses such as the Rolex festival so that everyone can benefit from Tourism income. This in the long run means the livelihoods of the common people will be improved,” Jimmy Andrew Kigozi said.

The Rolex Festival which aims to grow Food Tourism using the rolex as one the vehicles will be held on Sunday, August 18th at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
