Revelers enjoy fun evening at “Silent Disco and Karaoke” experience

It was a fun-filled evening with lots of music and dancing as party lovers were entertained to a Silent Disco and Karaoke experience at The Gardens, Najeera on Saturday. 

Powered by Tusker Lite, revellers had four music channels to choose from as the Almost Famous DJ’s crew showcased their artistry on the decks. 

The Almost Famous DJ’s crew treated revelers to flavors of Reggae, dancehall, old school, African and urban music as the party went on till late with back to back hits that kept them on their feet all night long.

The Silent Disco and Karaoke night will be happening monthly, with the next edition slated for early September.

Uganda’s popular 1970 teenage band The Cranes to reunite at Nyege Nyege Festival

East Africa’s most celebrated festival is back, the long anticipated four-day event is slated to take place from 5 to 8 September at Nile Discovery Beach, Jinja. Unlike the previous editions, the event organisers have decided to add a new twist to the festival.This year the legendary Cranes, Uganda’s most popular 1970 teenage band will be reuniting at the Nyege Nyege Festival for a reunion performance. At the end of the 1970’s the cranes led to the birth of Afrigo Band which is still the country’s number one band.Founded by Tony Senkebejje, Sam Kawuma and Clyde Mayanja, the Cranes produced 37 records and 33 albums, the band split into two; Cranes and Afrigo Black Power which was later renamed as Afrigo Band with Moses Matovu and Jef Sewava as band leaders.Back in the day, the Cranes had a radio show called Top Ten Hits where their songs were played. It is well-known for hit songs such as Njatulira, Jay Beera Mwesigwa, Anne wange, Monica, Marcelinah and many more.

The five surviving members that recently reformed as the cranes are all in their late sixties and still dominate the music scene in Uganda with their respective bands Afrigo and Simba Sounds Band. Both banda have recorded more than 25 albums.

Video: BasketMouth confirms perfomance at Comedy Store this week

Nigerian comedian and Africa’s arguably best comedian Bright Okpocha aka Basketmouth has comfirmed he will be at Uganda’s biggest comedy show, Comedy Store this week. Basketmouth in a short clip expresses his excitement to be in Uganda and particularly Comedy Store.

According to Alex Muhangi, the Comedy Store proprietor, Basketmouth will be in Uganda for by Wednesday to prepare for his show on Thursday. “Basketmouth is our international act for the month of August. Like we had Diamond Platnumz in July, we will have an international act every month.”he said.

According to Comedy Store sources, Basketmouth has been fully paid and only awaits a good show at Comedy Store.
