RESTAURANT REVIEW: KFC, Bugolobi Village Mall

Published

on

Located on the ground floor of the grand impressive vintage-architecture-designed Village Mall, Kentucky Fried Chicken, which opened its Ugandan wing yesterday, is tucked in the extreme Eastern side.

An internationally renowned brand; the newly opened wing attests to that. The entrance directly faces the counter, the ultimate reason of visiting a restaurant. I went as part of the press team to cover its opening so the counter was not my concern as my presence came with free chicken at the end of the day.

“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”

Stencil graphics decorate the middle portion of the wall, running across, overlooking the red cushioned seats surrounding rectangular shaped tables aligned next to each other in the L-shaped restaurant with pavilion on the longer side while the entrance and counter on the other.

THE AMBIANCE:
Exudes class; relatively silent with soothing music in the background. Recommended for couples, family or business as sockets are fitted at the tables.

THE MENU:
Contrary to what you must have heard from social media, the prices are generous for the quality served. 2 pieces of chicken and regular chips go for 16,500/, 9 pieces, family size chips, 1.5l coke, i coleslaw goes for 69k; burgers are at 13k; regular ice cream at 2,500/ and the jumbo pack 21 pieces for 99k. Only coke products are served with food. Vegans have are narrow range to choose from and generally not a place for them.

I was served 2 chicken pieces, a coke and chips. The satiety value is awesome. The pepper in the chicken, though!

CUSTOMER CARE:
It was the first day. All smiles. The waiters and waitresses dress in branded KFC denim jean trousers, red shirt, black cap and huge boots! More smiles!

THE PARKING:
The mall takes care of that.

THE VIBE:
“What are you going to do first before eating that chicken? Taking a selfie and uploading or praying?”

THE CROWD:
Dominantly whites and Asians. I spotted Pastor Sempa, Myko Ouma, Maurice, Simon Kaheru, Boss Hyper.
