Top Ugandan female rapper Recho Rey has opened up about her personal style, proudly embracing her tomboy identity.
In a recent statement, the award-winning artist revealed that despite a shift in her public image, she remains true to her roots.
Recho Rey shared that in 2019, her management team made a decision to rebrand her from a tomboy to a more sexy and glamorous image.
This transformation was aimed at giving her music career a fresh and more marketable look.
However, the rapper says that deep down, she is still the same tomboy at heart.
“Even though the branding changed, I am still a tomboy,” Recho Rey said in an interview on Sanyuka TV.
“Girls out there should know that it’s okay to be both. You can be strong, bold, and still be beautiful.”
Known for her powerful lyrics and confident stage presence, Recho Rey has become a role model for many young girls in Uganda.
She continues to encourage self-expression and authenticity, urging fans to embrace who they truly are, regardless of societal expectations.
Recho Rey’s message is clear — you don’t have to fit into one box to be successful. You can be both a tomboy and a star.
