Ragga Dee is set to return to the stage after a 15-year break, with a much-anticipated concert scheduled for January 25th at Serena Hotel, Kampala.

The veteran artist, whose influence spans decades in Uganda’s music industry, explained the reasons behind his long hiatus, citing his dedication to advocating for copyright reforms.

“One of the reasons I haven’t done a show in 15 years is because we’ve been singing for free. In the past, we sold albums at high prices and earned money. I chose to focus on pushing for the copyright law so artists can benefit from their creations,” he revealed.

Ragga Dee expressed optimism about the progress of copyright legislation, noting the government’s recent strides toward amending the law.

“It seems the law will finally be amended this year. The cabinet has already assented to it,” he stated, appreciating the government’s efforts in ensuring that creatives are adequately compensated for their work.
