Weasel asks in the intro of Magnetic, “People are you ready?” To be honest we were not ready for something like this. The Goodlyfe duo of Radio and Weasel a few months ago decided to redo the Magnetic video after the first one didn’t portray the International standards they were reaching out for.
That announcement was welcomed warmly considering the first video was lacking in some areas. In the event of the first video wanting on many fronts, fans waited for the second one with optimism. Someone would think that after the popularity the song has gained over the months, nothing less than perfect would befit the video. It’s a shame it wasn’t to be.
To begin with, the video seems raw and plain. You would think that with the song being a certified banger, you would expect a huge cast of people having a time of their life. We are only treated to a few skimpily dressed girls dancing with hullahoops. The costumes left a lot to be desired with Weasel the main culprit stuffing around his bare chest jumping around in shorts only(Weasel why ohh why). Radio’s look isn’t bad though he could have accessorized more.
The visual effects were good though not the best. The cameraman only hinged on slow motion effects like they were the only effects they could employ. Camera angles used were spot on though the girl blowing a gum bubble seemed irrelevant. For a song that has dominated the club playlists, using a pink background reduces its ruff appeal. The cameras used are definitely good telling by the quality of the picture.
All in all, the video was average. Radio and Weasel are BET nominees and are fantastic musicians don’t get me wrong. Of recent they have been doing good work with videos like Fantastic, Cant Let You Go, Sexy Money but this Magnetic video remix leaves a lot to be desired.
