President Museveni congratulates Uganda Cranes and Rugby Cranes upon victories

The President of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellence Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed the performance of the National football team and the National Rugby team following their massive victories over the weekend.

The President congratulated the two teams on his official Twitter page stating, “Congratulations to the Uganda Cranes and Uganda Rugby Cranes for the wins in CHAN and Elgon Cup respectively. You made us Proud.”

Uganda Cranes thrashed Tanzania 3-0 on Saturday at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar in the first leg the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier while the Rugby Cranes defeated Kenya 30-25 in Kampala to win the Elgon Cup on 47-45 aggregate. The Rugby Cranes rose from a first leg defeat of 20-17 after their trip to Nairobi.

According to New Vision, Brigadier Muhoozi was the first to congratulate the Rugby Cranes on Saturday upon their victory.

“On Saturday, President Museveni’s son who is also the Commander of Special Forces Group, Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba was the first to appreciate the Rugby Cranes performance by contributing Ushs 5M to the team’s preparation for next month’s Rugby Africa Cup tier1B campaign,” reads a statement in New Vision.
