Newly appointed Kampala Capital City Authority FC head coach Mike Mutebi is delighted to be back in Uganda’s topflight soccer and particularly at KCCA where he served as a coach in 1997 and again in 2004.
Mutebi’s last action in the topflight was in 2013 as SC Villa coach and will be working with another former Villa coach, Sam Ssimbwa who was sacked by the ‘Blues’ before the end of last season.
“It is a great feeling coming back to topflight coaching after a long time out. Sam Ssimbwa has been there just the other day (in March, also with Villa) so for him it was not any different,” Mutebi told Daily Monitor.
Mutebi and his assistant Sam Ssimbwa officially kicked off their work at the Lugogo based club on Monday and have confirmed the release of eleven players from the yellow camp and also mentioned the new signings as well.
Released players: William Wadri, Simon Namwanja (loan from Proline expired), Ibrahim Kizza, Martin Kizza, Herman Wasswa (free agent off to Sofapaka), Francis Olaki, Savio Kabugo (loan ended), Ronnie Kisekka, Isaac Ntege, Baker Lukooya and Rogers Lukwiya.
New signings: Martin Mpuuga, Richard Kassaga, Muzamir Mutyaba, Denis Okot, Ayiko Richard, Dan Nsubuga, Isaac Sserunkuma and Tanzanian striker Kondoa Shaban.
