The Uganda Police has cautioned musician Weasel Manizo after a video surfaced showing him physically assaulting a suspected thief who had allegedly tried to break into his car.

According to reports, Weasel found the intruder attempting to rob his vehicle from where it was parked. Instead of handing the suspect over to authorities, he and his friends resorted to beating him severely, leaving him bleeding.

A video circulating on social media shows the singer wielding a large rod, which he repeatedly used to strike the suspect while demanding his name, origin, and reason for tampering with the car. The man’s pleas for mercy went unanswered as the assault continued.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SSP Patrick Onyango confirmed receiving the video but did not indicate whether charges would be pressed. He, however, strongly warned against mob justice and individuals taking the law into their own hands.

“As police, we tell people like Weasel that if you get someone red-handed in your car, don’t take the law into your hands. Just take them to the police near you or your LC. If that person dies, we will find you responsible,” Onyango stated.

Police emphasized the importance of immediately reporting such cases to the nearest station or local leaders rather than resorting to violence.
