A PASTOR with a local apostolic sect went parallel with the dictates of his religion when he frequented a beer hall to visit his barmaid lover and ended up engaging in a fierce fight with the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

The pastor, Alistar Mutombwa, 36, of House Number 2013 Ascot Infill in Gweru, is said to have first head-butted the woman’s ex-lover, Tafadzwa Matsvaire twice before stabbing him with a knife twice on the left arm.

Mutombwa appeared before Gweru magistrate, Getrude Mayenyoso, to answer a charge of assault.

“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”

He was remanded out of custody on free bail to tomorrow.

It also emerged during the man of cloth’s initial court appearance that he was not legally married to his girlfriend, Esnath Zhou but the two were co-habiting.

Prosecutor, Pearson Muringani said on November 6, this year, Zhou phoned her lover, Mutombwa, at around 7am to come and collect bus fare at her work place, Raylands Bottle Store along Lower Gweru Road, so that he could go home.

He said the complainant, Matsvaire, who is Zhou’s ex-lover, was also at the same bar, drinking beer.

Muringani said Matsvaire noticed Zhou talking to her boyfriend, Mutombwa, and this did not go down well with him.

A misunderstanding arose between the two.

Muringani said Mutombwa head-butted Matsvaire twice on the head and went on to produce a knife from his pocket and stabbed the complainant twice on the left arm.

Muringani told the court that the complainant sustained severe injuries as indicated on the medical report.
