There was intense drama in Maseno after a police post went full-on mad in broad daylight. According to a witness outside the Station, a woman named Esther came to report that her son had been shot during the just-concluded Azimio Protests. Her son, a student at Maseno University, was gunned down by a rogue officer who wanted to send a deadly message to the angry Protesters. Esther took the matter into her own hands when she was shoved out of the station in tears. She was told in clear terms, that she was not welcome there, that she should report her case to the Azimio leadership.
Out of anger and frustration, Esther went home and decided to find an alternative means to seek justice for her son, who was only one of thousands who took to the streets to express their discontent for a poorly run government. After a few phone calls to friends and family, she was recommended to contact a traditional herbalist called Dr. Mugwenu to exact revenge, vengeance and justice, whichever works for her.
As soon as Dr. Mugwenu was done casting his powerful spells, reports of Officers running naked and peeing on roadsides emerged. It was both a shocking moment as well hilarious one as the Officers took to the streets, this time not to quell or disperse rioting individuals with teargas, but because they had lost their minds. Residents escorted them to their homes, some singing reggae songs, dancing naked and chasing people with sticks.
Esther was eventually contacted by the OCPD, who was away on duty, to beg her to come to an agreement on a way forward. Eventually, the culprit who shot her son was found, among those most adversely affected by the spells, as he had a swarm of bees stuck to his body. He was duly arrested, as a huge compensation was made to Esther. A hefty fine of Kshs. 100,000 was also paid to Dr. Mugwenu to reverse his spells. Esther was so relieved, to both find justice as well as get a lump sum of Kshs. 2.5 million from the Police Force account. It is one of those cases that was labeled a victory, thanks to Dr. Mugwenu, whose involvement was the highlight moment as residents acknowledged his expertise and professionalism.
