His music set East Africa on fire. He performed in many parts of Africa in countries like Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda until he was invited to perform on the UNAA convention in New York at Marriot Hotel Brooklyn Brige.
He then decided to start living in America to try his hand at going International. He has performed in Colorado,D.C, Boston,San Francisco,Maine,Chicago and in New Hampshire. He has by himself produced and released a lot of music. He is working on some big things right now and goes by a stage name Pallaso. We caught up with him, and below is how it went down.
Who is Pallaso?
Pallaso was born Pius Mayanja, Pallaso is formerly known as Pius Lizard, an over comer, hard worker teller of life, a father, a brother a friend and all the other things my people think of me.
What kind of Music do you do for your fans?
The kind of music I do is cross over music, I am not tied to one genre, It’s like a mixture of reggae, dancehall, Rnb & African music.
Tell us about the “Ready For you” jam that you did with GNL Zamba.
That song Ready For You is about distant love…It’s for people over seas or High school love in boarding schools where It could take ridiculous amounts of time to see the one you care about.
And now you have a new one, Mundongo, something to do with clubs and unity. Tell us what the song is about.
Mundongo is about Night clubs….In night clubs you find everybody all about the same thing….dancing & having fun, the police & criminals, teachers & students, Besigye & Museveni supporters, I mean they all hit that one point where they agree on the same thing.
I also just wanted to expose a great amount of skills on that track like I wanted to describe what happens in Dance clubs beyond what another regular artist could to the finest detail & that is what I did.
Away from Night Clubs, Museveni and Besigye, You also have another tune called Omusawo a 2014 release. What is the Message in this song?
We grew up hearing stories of how some women use voodoo to create security for their relationships if they want it to last forever.
So, like I said I just wanted to get it on canvas to its finest detail while staying original as possible & educate people. It all goes back to what stories we grew up hearing and these are stories that created fear, knowledge & strength…it’s all we ever known. So, I can be the best artist I wanna be if I distance myself from me and I am sure my music tells the ‘me’ story.
How was it like working with Radio and Weasel on your hit song Amaaso?
Radio & Weasel are the greatest Individuals I ever worked with. You gotta understand that’s around the time they still had the B.E.T shine but still they are that humbled. We got the beat from Nash Wonder & I produced the whole entire project audio & video from there by myself. We had a few disagreements on making the video but that’s because they are professionals & really felt like letting me do this all was chancing their careers but I’m glad in the end they were so impressed with my efforts.
This was not the first time working with them, so we all already had a feel of every ones abilities but all in all man they gave me the first biggest plug of my career I am sure the world will be facing alot more work from Pallaso & Good lyfe in the future.
You sing a lot with The Mess, who is he to you?
Mess is one super talented Rapper/singer/songwriter that was struggling to get a firm grip of his career in Lewiston Maine where he was raised. I came to learn of him and his work was real evidence of a genius undiscovered. I gave him a shot…Produced a few tracks with him and all ended up being magical, Videos went viral, Big companies like united way made us world faces, we headlined every newspaper & televisions for a season, I mean with me & him combined dreams come alive. He is like my brother. Me and him have had our differences & common grounds but that’s all because we are just Human.
Finally Pallaso, Any future Ugandan collabos that we should look forward to?
I got alot of unfinished songs with GoodLyfe in studio, a collabo to soon drop with Ak forty seven called Mukyawe, I have a collabo with a very talented individual Brian Avie called Sweet Love with a crazy reggae feeling but at the moment that’s about it.
