Pallaso has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding concerts where entrance fees are set at UGX 20,000 or UGX 30,000, challenging the narrative that such shows are automatically unprofitable for artists.
According to Pallaso, the money generated from the affordable ticket prices is not necessarily where he makes his biggest profits. Instead, he uses the ticket revenue to take care of key expenses, including payments to service providers and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) obligations.
He explained that his bigger returns often come from selling tables, particularly to friends, supporters and people within his social network, while also securing sponsorship deals for his events.
“Your social network is your social net-worth. If a table is 5 million and I sell about 10 of them, that’s 50 million,” Pallaso shared.
The singer’s comments highlight how artists can structure their concerts around multiple revenue streams rather than relying solely on entrance fees to make a profit.
Pallaso also addressed the growing preference among some Ugandan promoters for international acts and Amapiano artists, which he attributed largely to what is currently trending on social media.
While he acknowledged that there is nothing inherently wrong with bringing international acts to Uganda or embracing trending genres, he believes promoters should also make a deliberate effort to invest in and support local talent.
“Charity begins at home, let’s sponsor local talent,” he said.
