For the hotel desire to be the best and keeping the international standard, several new appointments were made over last year in the drive to the relaunch.
Among the appointments are two notable ones. The Executive Assistant Manager-Karim Fahmy and Jenifer Bamuturaki Musiime who is the new Director of sales and marketing who joined the hotel last September.
Fahmy who is Canadian is a graduate of Food Services Management, with a Masters certificate in hospitality management from Cornell University-Hotel management School. He brings to the Hotel a vast Hotel and Hospitality Industry management of over 20 years.
With a true passion for hospitality and a real food lover, Karim has worked in over 20 international Hotels in North America, the Mid East and West Africa before joining Sheraton Kampala.
Jennifer is a former head of sales and marketing at Air Uganda. She brings to the Hotel a wealth of business experience both in the commercial and tourism industries. She boasts of a ten year stint in the aviation industry with a combined knowledge of over 20 years’ experience in both industries of tourism and aviation.
So coming off a tough 2014 business and tourism year, Sheraton Uganda decided to bring in its staff new changes but prior was to boost their foods department and sales and marketing.
Karim Fahmy acknowledges that there is need to appoint a new chef every two or three years to keeps the hotel business booming because hotels thrive most on the best and tasty foods.
“Customers will need to have a new chef every 2 or 3 years. Somebody with new ideas in the foods and beverages department because this is the core value of the hotel industry.” Karim says.
