Music producer Nessim Pan Production has revealed the unusual trick he used to create part of the sound in King Saha’s hit song “Very Well,” featuring Slick Stuart and Roja.
Speaking to NRG Radio, Nessim explained that he used an ordinary matchbox as a shaker while producing the song, improvising rather than hiring a professional percussion instrument.
“If you play the song, the first part, it was a matchbox that acted as a shaker. I saw it was going to be tiring to hire one, so I improvised.”
Nessim said the experience highlights how much creativity and experimentation goes into music production, with some of the techniques used by producers often going unnoticed by listeners.
According to the producer, creating a successful song is not simply about recording vocals and adding beats, but also involves finding creative ways to achieve the desired sound, sometimes using everyday objects.
Nessim is one of Uganda’s prominent music producers, having contributed to numerous hit songs across the country’s music scene. Known for his production style and ability to experiment with different sounds, he has worked with several of Uganda’s leading artists, helping shape some of the songs that have dominated the airwaves over the years.
His production credits include major hits such as “Very Well” by King Saha featuring Slick Stuart and Roja, as well as songs by artists including Bebe Cool, Rema Namakula, Sheebah, Fik Fameica and others.
