Uganda’s oldest sports facility, the Nakivubo War II Memorial Stadium, will undergo a facelift next month.
According to the stadium management, the Park Yard part of the facility will by the end of September have a new look thanks to a partnership with Ham Enterprises tuning up to Shs350m.
The dressing rooms have already been refurbished and in a move to enhance further re-development, a perimeter wall fence is also set to be constructed.
The new arrangement also brings good news to netball fans as they will have new stands set up just close to their courts.
“We want to make the stadium a self-sustainable facility and we are working to that line,” said the stadium spokesperson, Fred Kateregga.
The facility close to five months ago closed down for failure to clear a Shs350m tax debt with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) but has over time reduced the debt to Shs200m.
