Every day is full of regrets for Patrick Onyango, who lives in a shack in the sprawling slums in Korogocho, Nairobi. Given that there was hope for better things ahead, he borrowed the money from a friend who took a loan on his behalf. It dawned on him that he had been conned when there was no positive financial change in his life, and things even got worse. The loan his friend took on his behalf has since ballooned out of control due to unpaid interest and stands at Ksh 40,608.
“I have no idea on how I’ll pay the money back and my friend stopped talking to me as a result. Things have become more difficult and I have lost all hopes,” he lamented. He thought committing suicide to avoid paying the debt but he had a contradictory opinion because his kids depended on him. He narrated the situation to a number of people from which one of them suggested to him, to seek help from Dr.Mugwenu.
