MTN Uganda has today introduced free gaming every Thursday for the youthful MTN Pulse customers. There are thousands of games available on http://games.mtn.co.ug that customers can pick from. This is part of the broader proposition for MTN Pulse customers that are enthusiastic about gaming.

“A month ago, MTN Uganda launched MTN Pulse, a community of youthful Ugandans where they can unleash their full potential and live life with #NoFear. As part of MTN Pulse, customers are now free to expand their skill set and explore further their gaming potential. Our MTN Pulse customers will now be able to subscribe and play free games every Thursday,” said Hellen Kirungi, the MTN Uganda Youth Segment Manager.

MTN Game+ is accessible on all android enabled smartphones. It allows customers to subscribe, download and play games of their choice. Usually, customers have to part with a fee to play games for daily or weekly or monthly subscriptions. However, for customers on MTN Pulse, the games can be played free of charge every Thursday. Customers will be able to access the 1000’s of games ranging from racing, sports, music, action, chess, cards, strategy, role playing, casual, puzzle and casino.

“The games will provide an exciting digital experience for MTN Pulse customers that have always wanted to play games. We believe that this is an exciting opportunity for MTN Pulsers to play the games they have always wanted to play. We are creating the FOMO for free gaming every Thursday,” Kirungi adds.

The free gaming also provides an opportunity for game developers to build more games that can be played by Ugandans. MTN Game+ will remain available for subscription throughout but free for MTN Pulse customers every Thursday. To join MTN Pulse and enjoying free gaming on Thursdays, hit *157# or www.pulse.mtn.co.ug

Airtel Uganda has opened another premium shop in continuation of their efforts to provide excellent one-on-one customer care experiences to subscribers across the country.

The expansion drive which came on the heels of successful network expansion and countrywide broadband availability campaigns saw the telco open 18 new premium shops in Kampala, Tororo, Iganga, Kamuli, Soroti, Mbarara, Hoima and other major towns across Uganda during the months of July and August this year.

Located in Thobani building on Kampala Road, the new premium shop will offer Airtel’s latest range of offerings along with fast and convenient customer service in a welcoming and customer-friendly environment.

“We understand the importance of one-on-one customer service in a professional and yet friendly environment. This is the reason why Airtel has over the past few months focused its efforts on setting up physical locations across the country where our customers can be served by our professional staff,” commented Airtel Uganda Legal Director Mr. Dennis Kakonge.

“This premium shops will further strengthen our footprint in Uganda by supplementing on our already existing kiosks, mini shops, distributor locations and super agencies across Kampala,” he added.

All the new premium shops that have been opened are located in central and accessible locations with convenient opening hours and superior merchandise. They are a one-stop center for Airtel service solutions such as SIM card purchases and registrations, Airtel Money, e-recharge and data connectivity. The shops also have experienced staff in place for consultations on all Airtel’s offerings.

MTN Uganda Supports Tooro Kingdom Empango Celebrations

MTN Uganda today announced a Ugx 20 million contribution to Tooro Kingdom’s ‘Empango’ (coronation anniversary) celebrations. Empango is scheduled to take place on September 8th, 2018 at the seat of Tooro Kingdom, the Karuziika Palace.

MTN Uganda’s contribution is a sign of a commitment made in April 2018 when the CEO Wim Vanhelleputte visited the Omukama of Tooro at the Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal town. While there, the Omukama and the CEO held cordial talks towards supporting development activities in the kingdom.

Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister (Omuhikirwa) Bernard Tungakwo Ateenyi received the contribution on behalf of the Omukama of Tooro, at a brief ceremony held at MTN offices in Kampala this morning.

“The King of Tooro, His Royal Highness Dr. Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV expresses his deep appreciation to MTN Uganda for its generosity. We are particularly pleased that MTN Uganda has indeed followed up on its discussion with the Omukama. This is a step in the right direction for us; and so we pledge our full participation,” he said.

As part of the Empango celebrations, Tooro Kingdom has organized a series of activities aimed at uniting the Batooro and well-wishers in celebration of the coronation anniversary of the King of Tooro. The Omukama ascended to the throne in 1995, at three and a half years, shortly after his father passed on. He is the 12th King of Tooro Kingdom.

MTN Uganda CEO Wim Vanhelleputte said, “MTN is proud to associate with a vibrant celebration of culture and the heritage of our friends, the Batooro. Together with His Royal Highness the Omukama, we recently agreed to forge a strong partnership that will see MTN support the Kingdom’s development initiatives especially among the youth. We are cognizant that the youthful population is brimming with ideas and initiatives which need to be supported for the development of our country.”

He added, “Accept our contribution towards the successful organization of the Empango celebrations this year. We look forward to ever greater engagement going forward.”

Tooro Kingdom planned week-long activities will run in all the districts which make the current Kingdom structure including Kyenjojo, Kabarole, Ntoroko, Kamwenge and Kyegegwa. ese include a Amasaza football tournament, a tourism expo at Karuzika Palace Grounds, HIV/AIDS Conference at Mucwa and a subsequent marathon, a kasiki on the eve of the event and the Tooro AgriBusiness Exhibition at Boma Grounds, Fort Portal.

The Chief Guest will be the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who will be representing the President H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Air Tanzania commences flights to Uganda

Air Tanzania extended its services to Entebbe International Airport with its inaugural flight on Sunday, August 26. The 76-Seater Q400 series plane touched down at 13:01pm and was received by the Minister of State for Works and Transport; Hon. Aggrey Bagiire and the Tanzanian High Commissioner to Uganda; H.E. Grace A. Mgovano, Civil Aviation Authority officials, Air Tanzania officials, and H.E. Richard Tumusiime Kabonero, High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda. The flight was honored with a water salute; a customary welcome in the aviation industry.

In his remarks, the Hon. Minister of Works and Transport noted that this is a huge step towards easing connections between the East African countries and that it will help boost trade between the two countries. The Tanzanian Ambassador to Uganda confirmed that Air Tanzania will offer affordable flights with high frequency through Entebbe International Airport totaling to 4 times a week. He was optimistic that the entry of Air Tanzania to the Entebbe route will meet the travel demands of East Africans.

“On top of the low fares, Air Tanzania will offer customers the ability to customize their travel to their needs and budget by allowing excess luggage and issuing tickets that don’t expire”, he added.

In a statement released by the Managing Director and CEO of Air Tanzania; Eng. Ladislaus Matindi said that, “The Wings of Kilimanjaro is proud to once again serve East Africa with direct flights and smooth connections to and from Tanzania. The service will enhance investment, trade and tourism opportunities in the region.”

Air Tanzania is the flag carrier airline of Tanzania based in Dar es Salaam with its hub at Julius Nyerere International Airport. It was established in 1977 and has been a member of the African Airlines Association since its inception. Air Tanzania is a wholly owned government company that has served a variety of domestic, regional and international destinations over the years. The airline operates a fleet of 5 aircrafts including a Boeing 787-7 Dreamliner to meet performance, dependability and comfort.
