Movit Products Limited last weekend visited over 1000 patients and prisoners in hospitals and prisons within the Northern Region. The Corporate Social Responsibility activity was done in partnership with the Iren Gleenson Foundation which organizes the Irene Gleeson Charity walk, an annual event held in memory of Mama Irene who sacrificed and dedicated her life to improving the lives of the people in Northern Uganda.
This year’s event was graced by several corporate companies and government officials within the region with the Deputy speaker of parliament of Republic of Uganda, Jacob Oulanyah as guest of honor. Other guests included the State Minister of Foreign Affairs Okello Oryem, Retired Anglican Bishop Dr. Henry Luke Orombi and the deputy Ambassador of the Republic of China in Uganda who was the chief walker.
Movit visited hospitals in Kitgum, Lamwo, Pader and Agago districts and the Uganda Government Prison in Kitgum giving out over 1000 packages of support items which included a basin, Baby Junior soap and jelly among others. The company also interacted with thousands of patients most especially mothers and children giving them motivation, hope and encouragement.
The Senior Administrator at St. Joseph hospital, Bezzy Omoya thanked Movit for the good cause. “Some pregnant women come to give birth with not even a basin to use for the baby after birth because they cannot afford it. The packages that Movit has given will be of great value to these women.”
The Movit Products Limited Trade Marketing, Communications and Corporate Affairs manager John Tumwesigye noted that the company will continue to invest in programs to support local communities and give away products to support people in need.
“We remain committed to being a good corporate citizen, giving back is a huge part of what motivates us as a company, and as individuals. Last year we invested Ugx 80 million and this year Ugx 30 Million all in Memory of Irene Gleeson and ensuring that we build on the foundation she started”. He stated.
