Earlier this week, Ugandan songstress Sheebah Karungi cried foul of sexually being harassed by someone she claimed to be a ‘public figure’ in the country.
In an Instagram video on Monday, May 9, 2022, Sheebah narrated how she was sexually disrespected by a renowned person in Uganda who had booked her to perform at his event.
“This old pervert who was trying to be funny with me in my car thinking. He jus opened my car with his security. They found me asleep in car, I was about to go on stage. I always wait for my managers to tell me so that I can start dressing up. First forward, this mother f*cker is trying to be inappropriate with me in front of my team members. No shame, no remorse, nothing,” Sheebah Karungi said.
The multi-award-winning female singer also took whips at men for sexually abusing women they meet without assuming the same case if it happened to their (men) own daughters.
“Why do you look at women like objects. Don’t you have daughters? Treat the wowmen you meet like you would want your daughters to be treated,” Sheebah added.
Kampala City socialite Bad Black also later claimed that the person behind Sheebah’s sexual harassment is former Vice President, Professor Gilbert Bukenya whom she reveals paid Sheebah Ugx. 5Million to perform 2 songs at his birthday party las weekend.
“Kalungi sheebah never try to cover up a man who tried to abuse u sexually old enough to be your grandfather , you were paid 5million to sing 2songs for his birthday sikukwata to force u into something kyotetegekedde::: be brave enough to tell us that >>professor Gilbert Bukenya did all this nonsense a kole apology… you’ve already brought the matter to online disciplinary committee nothing to hide:::::: oba olimba tulibulule but words reached mbu former President adviser From sheebaolic lawyer Masolo queen,” Bad Black’s social media post reads.
Sheebah’s saga has since proved to be an outstanding sound that some women seem to have all along waited for to de-campaign the sexual harassment issue on the rise especially to musicians at their workplace.
However, for years now Sheebah’s name stands amongst the Ugandan celebrities known for donning seductively on and off stage.
Her dresscode has on various occasions been criticized.
