The 2021 edition of Miss Tourism Buganda has been cancelled.
This was announced by Nsubuga Ronnie, the Miss Tourism Buganda Cluster Head in a statement released early this week.
He said that the Buganda pageant was cancelled due to the COVID-19 effects on the local tourism industry.
It should be noted that the country was recently under a 42-day lockdown aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, during which period domestic tourism-related activities were banned.
“This is officially let you know that our proposed Miss Tourism Buganda events will not take place this year 2021 as early announced at the grand launch,” Nsubuga Ronnie said.
“As an organization, we have made this decision following the current COVID-19 effects to the tourism industry especially here in the central part of Uganda (Kampala) together with the world at large.” He further explained. “This will give us enough time to organize and prepare better for your next competitions come next year.”
Consequently, Nakku Marion, the reigning Miss Tourism Buganda will retain the crown and carry on her duties until the next Buganda Queen is crowned.
Meanwhile, the search for the next Miss Tourism Uganda is still on and will be crowned in October this year.
