The eagerly awaited Season 3 of Mirinda Miss Teen will begin in earnest with a launch at Garden City Rooftop in Kampala on May 17, 2014.

Mirinda Miss Teen is an annual talent contest that aims at showcasing the great talents and characters of today’s teenage girls. This year’s theme is Miss Teen Star, and the search will be for a young, confident girl who has also excelled in numerous aspects including academics, sports, arts and leadership.

“Mirinda has been sponsoring Miss Teen for the past two years and this year’s objective is to make the property more exciting, fun and engaging,” said Ms Berna Kizza, the Mirinda brand manager.

More than 40 schools are set to take part in this year’s edition. Ms Kizza said Mirinda Teen embodies the true character of the Mirinda brand. “It’s a fun, playful, provocative and smart brand that is loved by many teens. Therefore the Miss Teen contest is the appropriate platform to spot the girl with the likeness of Mirinda which comes in a variety of flavours including; Fruity, Orange, Pineapple and
the recently launched Green Apple.”

Through this contest, Mirinda is searching for school-going teenage girls between 15 and 18 years of age. They should be girls everyone in school is looking up-to in terms of academic and co-curricular excellence. The winner will be a teen who stands for something and is currently doing inspiring work in her school community.

“Mirinda Miss Teen judges will be on the lookout for more than just beauty.” Last year’s winner was Patience Ahabwe of Nsambya Girls School who beat more than 100 girls and took home the prestigious teen crown as well as Shs2 million, shopping  vouchers, and many other prizes. Fourteen-year-old Monica Namulindwa from Seeta High School was the first runner-up  and Linda Guhirwa of Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga was the second runner up.

To enter the competition, all that teens have to do is show up at Garden City Rooftop on Saturday, May 17, 2014 between 10am and 6pm, fill out registration forms and audition.

Ms Kizza added that before students register for the competition they would have sought consent from their parents.
Mirinda has promised to make the launch event of Mirinda Miss Teen 2014, the utmost definition of fun and pleasure this holiday. “We have many activities for them to participate in and win instant prizes coupled with performances from leading artistes like Fille, Irene Ntale, Rema, Sheeba and a surprise male act,” said Kizza.

At the launch, the judges will also be unveiled to the public.
