Fans are loyal and never want to be given a raw deal. These guys will support the artistes from their first single to the latest and it’s a big embarrassment that an artiste will show up to an event most times late and then shout to the DJ, “Sample me track number 3 on the CD”.The fans feel so much disappointment with this. The habit is called miming or lipsynching.
The whole miming scourge has been eating through the industry like a plague so much that we can’t tell real talent from the fakes. The less talented artistes hide behind the computer generated effects (autotune) to give the fans a raw deal. Many concerts are lined up every weekend but a fan will attend and leave discontented because the artistes turn up unprepared and start wiggling their waists without singing a single word and then interrupt the DJ saying “LEVEL”. If you asked me that’s a SHAME.
The fans loyalty has remained untainted. They have still turned up in mammoth numbers to grace these album launches. The artistes should take into account that many of these fans work their butts off to sustain their careers.A fan will bear the rain, the distance to show support so in turn the artiste should show up and give them their money’s worth singing live.In that way the fan will get a good deal
But much credit should be accorded to many artistes that have adopted a culture of performing live. Its never easy aligning the vocals with the band but we appreciate the effort. This should be the direction musicians are willing to take.We have many bands and live musicians doing it big.The likes of Fusion Band,Qwela,Maurice Kirya and many others have graced us with their talent as they perform their hits so can the real talent PLEASE STAND UP
