The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has renamed Milutin Sredojevic (Micho) as the new head coach of Uganda Cranes after 4years of his departure.

The Serbian-born coach has penned a three-year renewable contract effective 1st August 2021.

The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff.

Here is the official statement from the FUFA website:

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) hereby announces that Mr. Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has been appointed Head coach of the Uganda Cranes on a three-year renewable contract effective 1st August 2021. Media Release The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff. Mr. Milutin Sredojevic will address the media on Tuesday 3rd August 2021.  It is Our Game, It is Our Country.

Micho also confirmed the news on his Twitter account as he boasted to have returned to his African football home.

“After exactly 4 years of AFRICAN FOOTBALL studies on Universities of life and football at ORLANDO PIRATES, ZAMALEK and ZAMBIA going back to my AFRICAN FOOTBALL HOME,” Micho wrote on his social media.

It’s one day to the exact date ever since Micho confirmed the termination of his employment contract with the Uganda football governing body in 2017.

The contract had occurred on Friday, 28 July 2017 at 8 PM and he based this on non-payment of salaries for several months.

Following his resignation from the Uganda Cranes, Micho returned to South African top-flight football club, Orlando Pirates FC where he had departed from in 2007.

Two years later, Micho retired as Orlando Pirates manager and it was later revealed that Micho resigned and left the country because he had been accused of rape.

Micho became manager of Uganda’s national football team in May 2013 after defeating other 37 people who had applied for the post.

He was then appointed Egyptian sports club, Zamalek SC manager but unfortunately, Micho was sacked less than four months into his new job.

In 2020, the Football Association of Zambia announced Sredojević as the national team head coach and on July 17, 2021, the country said that Micho had left his role via mutual consent.

Micho is expected to address the media on Tuesday 3rd August 2021.
