Uganda Cranes Football Coach, Micho

Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic is optimistic they will overturn the deficit and progress to the third round of the 2015 Nations Cup preliminary qualifiers.

The Cranes fell 2-1 away to Madagascar on Sunday and will have Hamis Kiiza’s injury time penalty to thank for as it kept their hopes alive.

Uganda were outplayed by the hosts for the better part of the game and the scoreline could have been worse for them had the Barea not squandered their penalty when they were 2-0 up.

Micho knows they should have been better but most importantly knows the importance of Kiiza’s last ditch goal.

“Good enough we got that consolation goal that gives us a chance,” he told SuperSport.com on Monday, adding, “We need first to find medicine for the return leg then after look how to heal long term sickness of poor travelers.”

Uganda’s only away qualifying victory in the last decade came on March 26, a 1-0 win over Guinea Bissau.

“Bottom line is that we need to work very hard to reach the standard that will enable us to be good enough to fulfill the dreams of all of us to go to African Cup of Nations.

“I am very optimistic and positive that in process we are work in progress, we shall reach demanded standards.”

The Cranes need to beat Madagascar 1-0 in the return leg due May 31 in Kampala to progress to the third round, where either Mauritania or Equatorial Guinea lay in wait.
