Rising Dancehall singerĀ Tyler “Kaahwa” Himself shared his music journey with us. Read what he had to say below:
My name is Kaahwa Innocent Tyler. I am an African artist/musician/entertainer and songwriter that started out my career in 2010 in the UK.
I have performed on the same stage with international artists like Wayne Wonder, Darrio, Demarco, Konshens, and Sean Paul and many more.
I am an International Recording artist as well as the C.E.O and owner of Xtreme Ent and Xtreme Records. I do a fusion of Dancehall (bashment)/Reggae music with traces of Hip Hop culture.
After several mix tapes at Flipside studios Coventry, I recorded my first single “Rags to riches” that sent shock waves in the west midlands where I did several gigs in clubs and bars.
My music carries an uplifting and exciting message with an international approach giving it the ability to cross borders and appeal to both youth and elderly people. I present a dynamic presence that encompasses true talent and an identifiable freshness that separates from the current flock of young artists that always seem to follow the footsteps of others.
My third single “Back it up” popped up on the Top20 countdown in the UK dancehall chart and was used on a Hot100 radio advertisement paving way for my later releases.
I came to fame worldwide after redoing a project with Washroom Entertainment, the label to which Samantha J of Tight skirt fame was signed. The song hit charts in Japan, Cyprus, Kenya, Rwanda, Jamaica, UK and several other regions while receiving massive club and television airplay in Uganda. It was at this point that I realized an opportunity to rekindle my music career right from Uganda, my homeland. Then I moved back to Kampala and went on to register more success with high quality audio releases and Hollywood style videos.
Right now, I am working on my debut mix tape in Uganda titled “Patois mix tape”. Songs on the mix tape include Back it up, Tight skirt remix, Fire and Caro.
Subsequent success has been built from these releases of which most recent releases on the mix tape include Saawa, Tell me and most recently Some Mo respectively. Some Mo being the latest project has received immense support and love from the fans. The song is an afro beat dancehall song with a flashy high budget video shot on the coastal line of East Africa. The recent projects have created anticipation making the fans look forward to the official release of the mix tape.
