News reaching us is that the Western region is set to hold its first ever media awards dubbed ‘Western Media Awards’ which are meant to reward outstanding media personalities in Western Uganda.
Western Media Awards are said to have been organised by Light Touch Films, a Non Governmental Organization based in Kampala.
Innocent Nabaasa, a radio presenter on Vision Radio based in Mbarara and one of the organisers informed our reporters that these awards are aimed at rewarding news writers, TV & Radio presenters from Western Uganda in appreciation of their efforts and hard work in the media industry.
She said that this has been planned for a long time after realising that most of the media personalities from western region have not always been considered in the awards organised in Kampala which has forced them to plan their own.
Innocent added that nomination process is going on and one nominates him/herself irrespective of the category after contacting them. The voting process will be done using both SMS and online platforms where by fans will then vote for their favourite nominees and winners will be awarded at the end of the voting process in a mega ceremony that will take place at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on 13th, December this year.
