In a surprising turn of events, Dancehall sensation King Michael has hinted at his intention to join the National Unity Platform (NUP), the political party led by singer-cum-politician Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

The move comes after his former colleague at the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Big Eye StaBoss, made a similar transition to NUP in November 2023.

In a recent interview on a local TV channel, King Michael shared his admiration for the positive changes in Big Eye’s life since aligning himself with Bobi Wine’s political ideology. While expressing his willingness to reunite with Bobi Wine, King Michael emphasized that the timing is not immediate.

“It’s evident that my friend Big Eye’s life has changed ever since he reunited with Bobi Wine. I will also need to do the same sometime to come, but not now,” King Michael conveyed to Spark TV during the interview.

The speculation surrounding King Michael’s potential move is fueled by the notable improvements in Big Eye’s lifestyle since affiliating with the Makerere-Kavule based political faction. This development suggests that King Michael may be considering a similar shift to enhance his own political standing.

Bobi Wine’s entry into politics has caused a significant divide within the Ugandan entertainment industry, with artists taking sides either in support of the NUP or aligning with the ruling party, NRM. The charismatic musician-turned-politician continues to be a central figure in Ugandan politics, generating heated discussions and influencing the allegiances of prominent personalities in the country’s entertainment scene.

As King Michael contemplates his political future, the entertainment industry watches with anticipation to see if he will follow in the footsteps of Big Eye and join the ranks of those supporting Bobi Wine and the NUP.
