It was an all Ugandan evening yesterday in the Kagame cup as KCC FC took on Kenya’s Gor Mahia. The 1978 champions, KCC opened their Kagame Cup campaign with a victory after coming from a goal down to beat Bobby Williamson’s side, Gor Mahia 2-1 in the the day’s second game played at Amahoro stadium.
Uganda Cranes and Gor Mahia striker, Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma gave the Kenyan champions a lead in the 27th minute of the game before substitute Brian Majwega equalized for KCCA after seven minutes into the second half. The Ugandan champions went into the lead later with Brian Umony netting the winner in the 88th minute.
It was Nsimbe of KCC (head coach) vs Bobby of Gor Mahia (head coach), where George ‘Best’ Nsimbe proved to be tactically better than the former cranes coach, Bobby. Nsimbe brought on Brian Umony for Herman Waswa, who made no mistake to score for the Ugandan champions.
Gor Mahia started as a better and brighter side who dominated the first half of the game, no wonder their efforts yielded them a lead after 27minutes of the game with massive and several attacks on the KCC FC goal even when goalie Yasin Mugabi, did his best to make some saves.
However, Ugandan side started to dominate in the second half of the game and deservedly equalized through Majwega tapping home a fine cross from Tom Masiko. KCCA there after went ahead to take the lead through Brian Umony’s late winner. The Ugandan champions, KCC will return into play tomorrow as they take on Telecom of Djibouti on 10th.
