Journalists, bloggers and social influencers were treated to a fun day out at Ssese Islands in Kalangala District on Wednesday courtesy of Jumia Travel Uganda.

From taking in the beautiful sights, to a ferry ride, it was a memorable trip that culminated with a sumptuous meal at Brovad Sands Lodge before embarking back on the journey to Kampala.

The expedition was held to coincide with the World Tourism day national celebrations which were being hosted in Ssese Islands.

The celebrations, which were officiated over by the Vice President H.E. Edward Ssekandi, were graced by different stakeholders in the Tourism industry.

Addressing guests at the ceremony, Ssekandi called for sustainable utilization of natural resources for tourism development. He emphasized the need to draw attention to the key travel destinations in Uganda so as to unlock their tourism potential in turn contributing to National development.

This was reechoed by Timothy Mugume, the Country Manager  Jumia Travel who said, “Domestic Tourism is a big resource for revenue and a big contributor to the GDP. We should tour our lovely country and while at it discover more ways of how we can add value and get value.”
