John Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry has reportedly put pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge after agreeing terms with the club.

The 33-year-old defender, who has scored 57 goals in 621 appearances for Chelsea since making his debut in 1998, was due to be out of contract this summer and has been  linked with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

As the West London club have a strict policy of only offering one-year deals to players above the age of 30 and Terry has agreed to the 12-month extension.

“I’m delighted to have signed an extension to my contract with Chelsea taking me into my 20th year with the club,” he told the Blues’ official website.

“I’d like to thank the fans and club for their continued support, and the manager who was instrumental for me the last season.”
