CECAFA Kagame Cup 2015 third place finishers Kampala Capital City Authority FC returned yesterday from Tanzania.
The Kasasiro Boys were welcomed by fans upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport before being taken to the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala where they were treated to a luncheon by the Kampala Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi.
“I thank you all for having performed up to this level and for bringing back home this reward. I personally followed all our matches and I would really see that you are a very strong team. I thank our new coaches for making this possible and I believe we will be a force to reckon with back here,” reads Jennifer Musisi’s statement on the club’s official website.
In attendance at the luncheon was the club chairman Kabugo who hailed the team’s performance that earned them 10,000 USD. “This shows how good we have become and am very optimistic that come this season, we will put up a very good show. Am very impressed by this performance because in a space of less than two months, you guys have managed to blend very well and you were playing like you have been together for years,” Kabugo said.
Meanwhile, head coach Mike Mutebi thanked the Executive Director for all the support given to them before saying that the team is yet to realize its maximum potential. He claimed that the team is only playing at 40% of their potential.
“I told them and I repeat it again, they haven’t yet utilized their total potential. There is improvement and that is why the fans are appreciating but if the players can make it to 50% of their potential, we will dominate here in Uganda and if they can go up to 60% or 70% then we will compete globally,” Coach Mike remarked.
The team will rest until Friday when they resume training ahead of the new season.
