Boda Boda riders in Kamwokya received a safety starter pack from aYo, a provider of micro-insurance solutions, on Thursday.
The starter pack which included registration books, pens, and face-shields comes as a big boost to the boda boda riders community in the area as they prepare to resume normal business.
This comes after President Museveni announced more measures aimed at easing lockdown during a national address on COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Among these was that boda boda riders, previously only allowed to carry cargo, would finally be allowed to resume ferrying passengers.
However, they would only be allowed to operate if they adhered to strict standard operating procedures including recording passenger contact details, wearing face masks and carrying sanitizers among others.
It is from this background that the aYo team decided to come in to offer support.
The safety starter packs were handed over by the aYo team lead by CEO Allan Lwanga as support to ensure compliance with COVID-19 health guidelines.
Boda Bodas will officially start carrying passengers again on on Monday, July 27.
