Singer cum-politician, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has opened up on his son Solomon Sekayi Kyagulanyi’s (Solomon Kampala) suspension from St. Mary’s College Kisubi (SMACK).
During the parents meeting convened by the school over the weekend, Bobi Wine faced-it-off with the administration as he poured out his longtime frustration by the school over his son Solomon Kampala.
Bobi Wine accused the school headteacher, Br. Deodati Aliganyira of riding on Solomon Kampala’s suspension to spark national attention.
He demanded clarity regarding son’s “possession of illegal drugs” case, that he says Solomon decried to have been a set-up against him.
“My son (Solomon) informed me that he had been set up and drugs put in his suit case and under his bed. I did not believe it at first. Not that I believe it now, but because I want answers,” Bobi Wine said.
He said that his son has overly cried foul of the school administration exercising multiple segregation patterns on him.
“That young man had been reporting to me a pattern of segregation and targeting on him. When all these issues came up, the head teacher told me that for a child to be a leader in this school, he must be an A-student and not an average student like my son,” he said.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) President also inculpated SMACK, a partially government-aided school of barring his son from involving himself in the institution political affairs with no grounds.
“We raise our children to be leaders. My young man always hoped to stand for an elective position in this school…but this one day, he came crying to me at home that the headmaster had blocked him from standing,” Bobi Wine said.
From a disciplinary meeting held in February between Bobi Wine and SMACK over his son’s suspension, headteacher Br Aliganyira is said to have assured that Solomon has no requirements to politically stand in school.
“Students that are overly popular are not allowed to run for office in this school,” Bobi Wine added.
The father-to-five further revealed how the administration had blocked him from attending the school Annual General Meetings with grounds on ‘Causing unnecessary attention’.
It should be recalled on February 1, 2022, SMACK slapped Solomon Kampala with a two-week suspension for acting contrary to the school’s policy on “zero-tolerance for indiscipline” after he was reportedly nabbed with illegal drugs.
The news sparked a mammoth of comments in both the media and public domain.
However, SMACK is yet to officially open up on Bobi Wine’s claims.
