Uganda Cranes’ most prolific striker Geoffrey Massa will miss the international friendly against Zambia tomorrow at the Levi Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Mujib Kasule, the FA’s vice president in charge of the league and chairman of the technical committee, told MTNFootball.com that Massa, who features for Pretoria University in the PSL, is nursing an injury.
“He communicated that he is not fit for the game,” explained Kasule.
However, the attacking duo of Emmanuel Okwi and Hamis Kiiza finally made it to Zambia yesterday after their club, Young Africans, agreed for them to travel after negotiations with the Uganda FA.
The two players are key for Young Africans’ return leg against African champions Al Ahly this weekend in Cairo after the Tanzania side won 1-0 in Dar es Salaam.
In the absence of Norwegian-based midfielder Tony Mawejje, the technical team called Boban Zirintusa.
Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Dennis Onyango is already in Zambia for the game, while the FA is also trying to fly in Brian Umony from Tanzania to fill the gap left by Massa.
