Facebook’s social ads link social actions with advertising. So, if you Like a brand that has paid for advertising on Facebook, your friends may see a message informing them you are a fan of that company.

Facebook says, “This personalized experience gives you the power to tell friends what you like and to see what they like.”

While some may consider this an informative use of their social graphs, others consider it an intrusion of privacy. But know, it’s up to you whether or not you want to be a part of this program.

f you’d like to opt out of this program, we can show you how. To be clear, opting out will not remove social ads from your news feed; it will prevent brands from using your activity to produce social ads.

Take a look through our simple walk-through in the gallery above. Let us know in the comments if you’re going to edit your settings, and if so, why.

Go to your "Account Settings." These can be found by clicking the small drop-down arrow at the top-right of your screen.
