Sex is everywhere but never before at this magnitude. Coinciding with the cold weather is an invasion by foreigners mainly Russians sharing explicit pornography video links to some of the biggest open facebook groups in the country. The Russian women ask for relationship while some others post nude photos enticing our idle Ugandan males who vile comment all kinds of explicit words not fit to be published on this site, the age of consent.

Targeted facebook groups include active trade and business groups like liquidation Uganda over 108,707 members. Though members of some of these groups complain, the administrators are left helpless as there is no privacy for open groups.

According to a UN report released last week, East African countries rank high in sex tourism with Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Rwanda included on the ”watch list” countries that could face possible sanctions if sex trafficking is not combated.

Though Uganda is not on the list, this new of cyber invasion could trap our youth and the desperate into inhumane scams considering that the majority of facebook users in the country are below 30 and the most idle below 18, the age of consent.

As Uganda marks National Youth day tomorrow, the Minister for Youth has called upon the youth to utilise social media constructively for advertisement, advocacy and worthy networking with the outside world. We hope they heed to that call.
