Uganda has so many public holidays! Barely 3 weeks after Idd, we have yet another long weekend coming and it is not to be wasted! When planning for your long weekend remember to take advantage of Jovago.com’s best price guarantee as well as the convenient book now, pay later feature. Here are a few places where you should make the most of Uganda’s 53 years of freedom.

Ssese Islands
Ssese Islands

Learn to sail in Entebbe

The Victoria Nyanza Sailing Club offers sailing classes as well as holding regular competitions and events. This weekend they are hosting the Stanbic Trophy on Sunday 11/10/2015 which would be a nice way to wind down your weekend of fun. They offer one time training classes as well as three month courses.

Mukono

Get away from the city for a quiet weekend in Mukono. The town is regularly over-looked as a vacation destination yet has much to offer. Attend pottery classes at the African Village hotel or enjoy the quiet beach at Mutoola. Mutoola Resort offers daily cruises as well.

Ssese Islands

If Entebbe and Mukono aren’t far away enough for you then you should consider a weekend on the islands. There are two ways to get there, ferry from Entebbe cost $8 return and leaves at 2pm everyday and takes 3hours to arrive at Kalangala. The second ferry is a public one, free of charge from Masaka, it leaves every two hours between 8am and 5pm. While in Ssese enjoy quad biking, bird-watching and jet-skiing or if you’re just looking to relax and sip cocktails take the island tour by boat.

However you spend your weekend, make sure you appreciate the beauty of this breathtaking nation.

Have a happy Independence weekend!
