Ugandan rapper Gravity Omutujju has made it clear that he doesn’t rely on the endorsement of fellow musician and political figure Bobi Wine to succeed in the music industry.

In a TikTok live video, Omutujju emphasized his autonomy in the industry, stating that while he respects Bobi Wine, he doesn’t want fans to perceive him as dependent on Wine’s support.
The relationship between Gravity Omutujju and Bobi Wine has been strained for some time. Despite collaborating on the track “Batujoozenyo” in 2020, tensions arose when Bobi Wine didn’t actively promote the song upon its release. This move left Gravity Omutujju feeling overlooked and led to public expressions of discontent.
I’ve heard [people] saying that associating with Bobi Wine gives you a major boost and that he is the reason I’m doing well, let him first do that for his brothers who are in the music industry.

The irony of the situation is not lost, as “Batujoozenyo” carries political themes and was released amidst the backdrop of the 2021 presidential elections, in which Bobi Wine was a prominent candidate.
Gravity Omutujju’s frustration with the lack of promotion from Bobi Wine highlights the complexities of mixing music and politics in Uganda’s vibrant entertainment scene.
Since the fallout over “Batujoozenyo,” Gravity Omutujju hasn’t shied away from expressing his grievances towards Bobi Wine, particularly during media appearances. However, he has also been mindful of not alienating his own fanbase by overly criticizing the influential figure.
