One of Uganda’s top media personalities Gaetano Kaggwa commonly known as Gaetano has sworn to sue NTV for invading his privacy after he was recorded live on camera being arrested on Saturday night with other people by the Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) who conducted a joint operation with the Uganda Police Force on bars that were operating beyond curfew time.
While speaking today on the Geatano and Lucky show, he stressed that NTV had no moral authority to invade anyone’s private life.
“I can defend myself that I was at Zone 7 restaurant having dinner. It is where I have my business meetings from and that is a fact. Everyone there was social distancing and mind you I was wearing a mask. I do not mind authorities coming in and saying what you are doing is wrong but what upset me were the cameras. You can not be a private entity and you come in to invade another private entity and therefore I will sue NTV for that.
Gaetano however, admitted that it was wrong for him and other revelers to be out in bars beyond curfew time.
The operation was done in Nakulabye,Bugolobi and Kitintale and this saw several patrons arrested and the bars sealed off with KCCA seals.
In March, President Yoweri Museveni among other measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 ordered the closure of bars. However several bars in different parts of Kampala and the country continue operating.
