The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has come out to tackle the problem of matching fixing and betting in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) as one of the ways to maintain the league in shape.
In a bid to curb the problem, the country’s football governing body has come out with a three-man-committee composed of a journalist, a police man and a lawyer to monitor the situation on match fixing and betting which the federation says distorts the natural results of the game.
“FUFA’s strong plans to tame the vice of match fixing and betting which is aimed at distorting the natural outcome of football results has come with the naming of a three man committee that has a police officer, lawyer and journalist,” reads an official statement on the federation’s website.
“This committee will be the first point of contact for FUFA, Clubs and other people to investigate matters of match manipulation”, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson said.
The three members on the committee include, Zirabamuzale Muzafaru, Counsel Muwawu James and Walusimbi Wooto.
